Activities

“A wonderful break. We loved the Yurt, the woodland and the café bar”.

Your day could start with a walk to The Wood Café where you may choose to relax with a cup of finest Italian espresso and a pastry or maybe indulge in a full English breakfast to some soft early morning music. But then you may prefer to cook a fry up in your yurt or out on the fire pit.

“Our children rated it as their most favourite holiday ever and we loved the safe environment enabling them to run around freely”.

Both children and adults alike greatly enjoy the walks in the Yurtcamp’s forty acres of woodland where many species of wildlife live. Magnificent birds of prey are easily spotted and you may even see a resident wild deer.
There is also table tennis, skittles, a pool table and lots of children’s play equipment. We also have a large field on which impromptu games of football, cricket and rounders are played, a zip wire, an adventure course and just a two minute walk from Yurtcamp is our club size all-weather tennis court. There is also plenty to do in the local area with Dartmoor on our doorstep and the South Hams with its wonderful beaches just a short drive away. Attractions such as Becky Falls, River Dart Country Park, Pennywell Farm and Woodlands Leisure Park are all close at hand. Torquay is less than ten miles away and the cities of Exeter and Plymouth are a short drive for those seeking major city attractions. For those special sporting events we have a large wall-mounted flat screen television in the The Wood Café.

“Cooking on the fire pit was a real experience and the food tasted surprisingly good”.

Some nights you may relish cooking your own dinner in your yurt or outside in your fire pit. For more adventurous outdoor cooks we have Dutch ovens and roasting spits that you can hire. On some evenings we hold themed dinners in The Wood Café where favourite dishes are available in both adult and child size portions.

“Yurtcamp was everything we had hoped for and more”.

There is plenty to do at Yurtcamp with the emphasis on family fun in the school holidays with plenty of relaxation plus our assurance that we operate a low impact, sustainable development with minimum use of non-renewable energy sources.
We also have a woodland management programme and work is continuously being carried out to enhance the bio diversity of the site including the provision of bird and bat boxes as well as the monitoring of the areas protected species. Yurtcamp is located in an area of ancient woodland and as such is designated a Devon County Wildlife Site due to its wide variety of flora and fauna.
